2022

Flooding Complete: A little over 18hrs of flooding brining my 9th year of this to a close. This year size was 54’ x 32’ and has about 14,041 Gallons (53,151 L) of water. Now I wait for it to freeze and keep my fingers crossed no leaks or sides blow out. 🏒

Now that my city upgraded our water meters and I have an app I can check it with, I realize that my calculation last year was way off. Guess I didn’t know how to read it or something but this year will be much more accurate but also with that much more shocking 😱

Flooding Update: 12 hours in.. things are progressing nicely but at this point we have not covered the base but should in the next hour.

💦 Still watching water fill my backyard rectangle up and praying there isn’t a leak… Also, testing out the beta status.lol app 😉

Flooding update: 8hrs in and still going well but the ground is not covered yet. Also, some of the snow chucks have been sticking up in the tarp so I am keeping my fingers crossed it won’t tear a hole in it. 🫣💦🏒

Flooding update: 2hrs in and things are progressing nicely as water is touching all of the back wall at this point. No leaks but at some point tonight before this gets too far along I need to put up some support braces 🤨

It’s that time of year again when the air is cold and I am going to pump a lot of water in my backyard that hopefully freezes. Let’s go! 💦🧊🏒

Could this be a shortcut to end this run early? I am not 100% confident that it is completely frozen but maybe another time.

Seems fitting for the end of today that I missed hitting the Delay button and just ran the coffee maker… 🤦‍♂️

I guess is anyone up for some coffee I got a fresh pot of it. 🤷🏻‍♂️☕️

⛹️‍♂️ Probably should be sleeping but rewatching videos of my son’s basketball games to do the stats for the coach 🫣

Spent the day watching kids activities which I find enjoyable. At my daughters hockey game I was able to have fun taking photos with our “good camera” which is always a plus 📸

Let’s hope my wife does the editing of all the ones I took today. 😆

    Today was a bust!

It was supposed to be a day to get stuff done or at least just relax as the only things we had on was something in the morning and then evening. However, we were getting some new doors delivered for the upstairs and I have someone lined up to install them on Monday. Then as a perfect storm, the delivery people dropped it off when I wasn’t home and once I got home I found out they were not the doors I was thinking I purchased 🤦🏻‍♂️. Hoping they had made a mistake I quickly realized checking my email that I did indeed order the wrong doors. I kind of blame the store as I had everything in my online cart and then for some reason it got cleared so then I was trying to redo it and instead of getting prestained boards I got the ready-to-stain boards.

So this started the day off where instead of not having to do much I drove multiple loads to the store to return them and then buy the ones I could in stock. Out of 7, I was able to buy 5 of them and 2 are now coming in later as they were “special deliver”. The best part of those two special delivery doors is the two wrong ones that did get delivered I had to pay a 25% restocking fee… ouch! Overall I made 2 trips to the store with the incorrect doors and I was luckily (since it was only 5 of the 7) able to get those back in 1 trip at the end but might have been two if I couldn’t have fit them all in the van.

Let’s just say it was an overall waste of my resources today (time + money). I guess I at least have something for our person to install on Monday but now I am going to have to wait another week for the last two doors.

Even when I don’t do the house projects myself I somehow have created a mess to deal with.

It is hard to always keep things on track and have line of sight to the end in the distance. The problem is just like this track there are curves along the way that give me less visibility into what is maybe coming at me or going to cause delays. Random thoughts running today.

As always Adam does a great job quickly fixing anything that doesn’t work. So even though my last post when feeds were new didn’t work. This one should work perfectly!

Doesn’t everyone spend a break in their day snow blowing their backyard instead of eating lunch or doing something else important?

    Before

After… Now we are ready to flood at some point maybe this weekend

    So here goes!

Took some work on heavy legs today trudging through the snow. Below is the same picture that was taken 2 days ago but now with snow.

With temperatures hovering in the single digits last night the shed is a little chilly this morning. I need to have the heaters kick on earlier in the morning. I am pleased that the overall air temp (at desk level) only got to 32°F. Or maybe the thermometer doesn’t go lower 🤔
