Wasnโt sure I was going to run today or not so I decided to meander around the neighborhood to get some miles in. However, in what seemed like an overcast could have been cool day was actually not a bad 45ยฐF out.
Tuesday Trails! Found some time today to explore a lot of the Purgatory Park trails in this nice weather. Based on my map it makes it look like I had no idea where I was running to and I guess that is kind of accurate but I was never lost. ๐
Yep, it does get dark quick in the evening. I didnโt have my lights and was mostly in the dark during this run. However, I didnโt get hit by cars or trip on the sidewalks so I guess a win.
Application Defaults
Loved this idea from Episode 097 of Hemispheric Views where they had a Dual of the Defaults! So to join in the fun as everyone else has I decided to make a list of what I use myself. I think the hardest part right now is a lot is in flux as I have started to use a Mac for my work job but more on that another time. However, this is how it looks right now as I am probably in transition still.

Special thanks to Robb for keeping track of a list of all of us doing this and you can find it on his App Defaults page he keeps currating. Also, thanks to Matt as I took his initinal list as I like the addition of the emojis.*
It was a nice morning to get miles in running along the Lake Minnetonka Regional Trail. Found a nice overlook spot in Excelsior to turn around and got a little speed on the way back.
After today this run was needed! The weather was great and I canโt complain about the sunset while meandering around. Glad to make a loop around the current Braemar trail as it looks what was a fun hiking trail might get overtaken for mountain bikers ๐.
Squeezed in a quick run today before the Ice Draw tonight. Wasnโt too bad out and might have overdressed as the sun wasnโt really out and felt colder before I started.
Wasn’t the plan but since there was snow out I felt obligated to get out and run today. โ๏ธ There was a little ice out there so had to take to the streets in places vs the sidewalks.
Guess we couldnโt escape it any longerโฆ Hello snow I wonโt lie you and your colder weather could go away for a couple more weeksโฆ Thanks. ๐จ๏ธ
It was a great morning to get a little reset and ran longer than I had planned as I was feeling good and an easy trail to follow out and back. I had the trail mostly to myself except a couple stare downs like this. ๐ฆ
We almost missed it butโฆ Hold the show everyone!!!! It is Big Darbs Birthday today ๐ฅณ ๐๐
๐ New dad moment that I found myself at a nail salon because my daughter needed her nails done. I can confidently say I have never been in one and the fumes are almost too much for me.
Note I am not getting my nails done but the nice lady asked if I needed anything too. ๐
I still like the idea of Appleโs Journal app but I have not really gotten suggestions ๐ค. Maybe I am doing something wrong but what I thought I would see is not working as expected. I thought my run from this morning, places I have been or photos I have taken today would be suggestions.
After a late night this run felt sluggish and didnโt help with the high winds today. Tried to find some coverage with a trail and around a marsh that is protected. Oh well I had the time waiting for morning hockey to get done so I will say I spent my time wisely.
We have gotten a lot of water the past couple of days and the marsh is showing it as the water is almost to the bottom of the boards. The run was good but a little slick on these planks and a lot of mud. Also, got cut short thinking I was going to miss a meeting that in turn got canceled.
Had to create a makeshift walkway to get to and from the office today due to all this rain we have been getting. I seem to have a river now that I hope will go away soon. Thanks pond hockey goal! ๐
Foundry by Eliot Peper
What can I say Eliot Peper did it again with Foundry! From the moment it started the whole story was a fast-paced, entertaining, and almost too close-to-reality near-future spy novel. Needless to say, I could not put the book down or stop listening to it when I was away from the physical book. I really enjoyed how this book (compared to his others) took a different style in approach by being written in first person and I even found when listening to it (also appreciated it was his voice) it was like someone was telling me a story as we sat across a table drinking a cortado.
I think this book was the perfect way to do such a thing and as always allowed for all the twists and turns as the bigger story unfolded. As always, I enjoy hearing easter eggs from prior books as he might reference places and technology but you would not have had to read those books before to enjoy this one. The attention to all details between the characters and the scenery made me feel like I was part of the overall storytelling journey.
Eliot does such a great job of writing these types of near-future stories like these where the plot and things that happen are very realistic and not so far-fetched to what we hear in the news. However, I think it also goes to show the detail in which he researches various technologies and topics to ensure it has that real feel to the story. This is found in how he describes places, food, drinks, and technology. Overall, this is another great book put out into the world by Eliot! I am sure he is sick of hearing this from me butโฆ I canโt wait for the next one!
Got this run done right before the rain came down. I was about 1 miles from home and my watch notified me that rain was starting in about 8 min ๐ . It was not a bad morning but darker on the trail due to the rain clouds.
This is a great little Obsidian Plugin Open Link With that allows me to have my links in Obsidian in Chrome (which I have to use for work) vs my default Safari which I use for personal.
