Family Bowling
Brecken has been begging us to go family bowling since he has started in this junior League every that plays every Saturday. With his new ball finally ready it seemed like the right time for a Sunday morning family fun. Canβt beat the prices at Tuttles for $2.50 per game so we got there early and had a late breakfast while we bowled for a couple hours. Everyone seemed to enjoy doing something different but I think the third game might have been a little too much. With our family of 5 it took us about 1 hr to bowl a game but everyone powered through even with some touch and go moments at some times π.
Family bowling!
Gretchen giving it all sheβs got!
Madiana casually tossing it down the lane and did very well with this approach.
Lining it up and trying some different things to test out the new ball.
Always exciting if you knock down a lot of the pins!
Hey, even the adults can celebrate from time to time after a great toss!
Found time to sneak away between family bowling this morning and hockey after dinner. Couldnβt pass up an opportunity to wear shorts again running as the times I can are shrinking fast. Also, what a great sunset with some ice on the lake ππ»ββοΈ

Found some time to get outside today and was listening to Hemisphere Views One Prime Plus episode 15 and 16. Letβs just say one really hit home with the fence / no fence on this city βtrailβ that I feel like I was in peoples backyards and running right next to fences πππ»ββοΈ

Friday night open skate. We met up with her dance friend at a very old barn styled hockey rink where the Mighty Ducks original movie was filmed. π
Wasnβt the plan for my distance but decided to keep enjoying our 12Β°F weather today (with a feels like -1Β° F) and run 13.1 miles this morning π₯Άππ»ββοΈπ¦
Found time today to finish putting up all the boards and pounding in the stakes. Now just waiting for a couple of days of really cold weather to flood. I can wait a little while though π π
Such a beautiful day out today (53Β°F) how could I not get outside for a late afternoon run to enjoy it. ππ»ββοΈ

Well this isnβt a good way to start Thanksgiving break… π€
Sick kid at home today. Did a rapid at-home test as obviously that is the main concern and it was negative. However, this might put some change in plans for the rest of Thanksgiving break π€π. Better to be safe and cautious during these times.
Had some time this morning for a longer than normal run. It was a welcomed way to clear the mind after a busy weekend and get to work for this short week.

Dilemma if Iβm excited or not that ice is starting to show up on small streams. I still have some work to do to get the backyard rink ready to go π€¦ββοΈ. However, I would really like so more fall weather, please.

Cold morning in the Prairie todayβ¦ π₯Ά
I need to speed up the ice rink building if this kind of weather is going to stay around.

Busy day of basketball todayβ¦ These boys got the job done and got the hardware to show for it ππβΉοΈββοΈ

Not what I was hoping to do for 4 hrs this afternoon but I got the mound of dirt (clay) flattened and smoothed out as well as I could.
Phase 1 of Project shed is complete β Trench dug β Electric dropped and connected β Internet Cable dropped β Trench filled

Saturday ritual as of lately… Goto the bowling alley to watch my son bowl (for this league he is in) while I drink an amazing cup of coffee π€¨
Well this card is awesome! I think I know some people I should annoy this holiday season πΉ
π¬ Red Notice - Thought it was a good movie. The rest of the family actually watched it and thought it was good too.

Seems like they cleared out a lot of buckthorn and tall grass here in the center circle of the nature trail. Then the clearing stops, wonder what the game plan is here ππ»ββοΈπ€
10:30pm and I am in the backyard with floodlights on filling in a trench. β I am sure it doesn’t look strange to anyone looking out the window or passing by.
Tomorrow I need to figure out how to pack down the lump I left.
Nostalgic November π
Prompted from an episode of Hemispheric Views where they brought up this subject of Nostalgic November where you would share a memory of anything from your past that brings a smile to your face. I hadnβt thought much of it since I listened to the episode but all of a sudden over the last couple of days I realized things I was doing, researching, or even talking about have been reminding me of something from my youth.
Trains… π
That is right, trains. I have always had this interest / fascination with trains which at some point also lead me to model trains when I was younger. I am not sure when it ever first started but it could have been a visit to the Henry Ford Museum as a kid, or watching trains go by the train tracks at the end of the street, or maybe from my walks home from school or when my friend and I would go exploring train bridges and walk along the tracks near our houses, or it could just be they are huge machines and as a kid that is really cool! I am not sure when my interest in trains finally led me to model trains but when that happened I remember being interested all over again as it was something I could purchase, build, and tinker with all the extra electronics.
Over the years, I stopped getting more model train stuff and boxed everything up when I went to college. After college, there was a brief time when I lived with my brother and I got really into it again and started buying engines and other parts as a local store was going out of business. However, once I moved away to Chicago that obsession stopped again. Once I moved back to Minnesota and we had younger kids I set up the track and got all the trains out a couple of times but even then that has now passed. They are now sitting in a box high up in the closet of our basement craft room. Maybe someday I will bring them down and set them up again.
One thing is for sure, anytime I find myself running on an old Rail Trail, crossing train tracks to get somewhere, visiting places with old train Depots, or even thinking about how I used to walk home from school. All of those experiences trigger memories of when I was younger.
