2022
We are off on another adventure… Here we come Boston see you at Midnight ✈️

Had the trail to myself today. Had to get this in early as it is going to be a full day today as we are traveling again tonight.

Had to get this run done earlier today as there was a lot going on. The first couple of miles my legs reminded me that I had only finished running a hilly workout less than 12 hrs ago.

Did a little exploring tonight as I was hoping to run on the Riverview Rd but it seems to be blocked and fenced off. Decided to improvise and at least find some other trails with a view.
Well, which one is it IT department? Are you forcing me to reboot in 4 days or 2 days 😄

Played Happy City last night. I do love that our family likes trying out new board games from time to time. This one reminds me of some other games but it is a nice little quick game you can play with all ages.
Enjoying a night around the campfire at our campsite. I enjoy this place even more when the stars align for quiet cool nights with no bugs.

“Are you done with work yet?” - Doodle 🐶

Another warm one out there running today on a route with very little shade around Clear Lake. I did take this time to explore a another new trail offshoot which was really nothing much but something to change it up.

Long run day of rolling hills… Started early to avoid the heat but you can’t change the dew point or humidity which was 66° and 90%. 🥵

The doodle is not impressed sitting outside in the heat waiting for her sisters to come by in the parade.
Truely a highlight of my summer being able to chat with these guys on Hemispheric Views. If you want to check out the actual episode I have a post about it here. Thanks guys for letting me join in as I really did have a blast chatting with you!

This post is a little back dated as I didn’t want to give it away.
Was kind of hoping there was rain in those clouds as it was really humid and hot this morning running.
Come on Garmin… really do you think I cut through all those houses.. actually don’t answer that 😆

Long day ahead of me today so back to the earlier morning runs. This morning it is hard to tell from the picture but it was pretty foggy out.
Doodle is feeling much better and really enjoying her chicken and rice meals. I have a feeling she will never go back to normal dog food now 🙄😆
Fishing and hanging out at the farm 🎣🚜
This past weekend we went down to the Gott Family farm in small town Ollie, Iowa. It is a little bit of a hike to get there from where we live but the kids loved every minute of it as they get to do all the things they don’t do in the cities (e.g., ride tractors, 4-wheelers, and have a personal finishing pond). I am pretty sure if you couldn’t catch a fish in this pond something is really wrong.
As you look though and see the size of the fish you will realize that they seemed to be well fed. Especially when the Grandkids are around.
Doodle checking out the fish
Fishing
I feel like everyone caught a lot of fish. Unfortunately only one person got the luck job of taking the fish off and putting a new worm back on 🙄.

Even the Doodle got to ride along
Drawing on the dock
Also, was great just hanging out with family.
I still can’t believe how tall my son is. It is really a matter of time before he passes me up
On our long drive back we stopped off quick to see my parents and played a round of “Golf”
Poor doodle 🐶
Yesterday our dog woke up and nothing seemed off as I took her outside as I normally do. However, when we got back inside and I normally give her a treat with her daily pill in it she sniffed it and just walked away. That is not normal at all…
Doodle just looked sick as she would walk up to me while working yesterday
Fast forward a little while and she kept throwing up and then when I would take her outside she would attempt to eat more grass to throw up. We ended up calling the vet and taking her in. They were very concerned and did multiple tests which all came back good for us and later in the day she came home after some shots and we could just monitor her for the rest of the day. She only drank a little late last night but would throw up after each sip of water. The vet told us if it continued like that we should call the next morning. At midnight last night I took her out once more and she came inside and did have some water and didn’t throw up the rest of the night. I decided incase she had to go outside quick I would just sleep on the couch with her so she wouldn’t have to jump down from our big bed and walk so far to the door. Needless to say I didn’t sleep well all night as the couple of times I woke up I checked on her fearing the worst as she really hadn’t eaten or drank anything for quite some time.
Work up this morning and the doodle had moved around a little bit but still very tired
I took her out this morning before I went for a run and then she went back inside and slept on our bed and my wife watch over her till I got back. Once I got back I took her out again and once we got back inside she seemed a little more pep in her step and took her daily treat, ate the little bit of food I offered her and drank some water. Hopefully, things keep looking up today as I am not sure I can go though another night like that.
Monitoring her from the shed office today she has now had 2 small helpings of food and water
