First Apple Watch Ultra fail today as for some reason it paused the workout. Glad I caught it after not to long but it did cut me a little short. You would think there could have been some backend analysis that could have figured out what I did and adjusted the route, miles, and stuff π€π€·ββοΈ
Back to familiar trails… Well I guess I have been going to Maine enough now that maybe those trails feel second nature too. Feeling sluggish today and hoped this run would do the trick after traveling back to Minnesota early this morning. I think it worked but limited sleep is probably my problem.
π¬ Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One - Was a good movie to start on my Sunday night flight out and finished up on todays flight back. I can’t beleve the movie was 2hr 43min and that was only part one. I fathom if they would have tried to put whatever the whole story was in one movie!
Markdown π€
I would say for at least the past year I have been pretty true to using Markdown when publishing stuff on this here blog and more specifically making sure that I use Markdown in order to post my running pictures on a very frequent basis π (this goes for other pictures too). However, I realized yesterday is there a benefit in doing so since the Micro.blog app uploads photos to HTML? I use Gluon too but I think you have to click the inline part to make it be markdown. I guess I am just wondering if it actually gets me anything to do so or if it is a little overkill anyways. If I use Markdown, which I actually don’t mind doing for text purposes but then just use HTML for the actual inserting of photos does it make a difference or will it make it harder if that day ever comes that I just export everything to have offline to view as some things will be in Markdown and other things in HTML?
This is probably more on my mind right now as I have been a little all over the place in Notes apps over the past year, as I just noticed my Craft.doc subscription went though for another 12 months before I got a chance to canceled it. π I am still using Obsidian, which I am typing this in right now because it feels right and I can access it across devices with a simple click of a button it gets published to Micro.blog thanks to the Micro.Publish extension created by @Otaviocc. With that said I am really only using Obsidian for my work notes so a great example is once I publish this I will delete it from Obsidian otherwise it gets messy when searching for things while working. This is where it would be great to have two Obsidian vaults open at once but that is a grip for another time.
So for anyone that has any thoughts or opinions I am open to hearing if there is a benefit or not or if it is just personal preference.

Could catch a little bit of the sunrise on my run this morning which was good to see as it has been overcast here all week. Today I decided to βcircleβ downtown and find some other areas to explore. This only meant I found a fun hill to climb that I was not as excited about finding.
Christmas Train ππ… The Eastern Promenade Trail sure was slick out this morning running as there was a very thin sheet of ice on it. Glad that once I hit the Back Cove Trail it was fine otherwise I might have had to turn around.
Going to be a long day and wanted to round the week out with a little more millage to get back on track assuming next week will be lower. So I had to get this run done earlier.
Meetings got moved so I decided to get out for a run early to enjoy the sun rising. Was colder again this morning but not all bad and I ran farther than planned as I didnβt have a plan but be home by 9am.
Rink Update: Seeing how I made the decision to make a backyard rink again this year it is that time of year I start watching the weather in the upcoming 10 days. Looking today, I don’t really see a time in the near future that I am going to start flooding. π π
Reflection
Walking my daughter out to the bus like I do almost every morning I am here reminds me of the small things that I get to take advantage of working remotely. Just the small conversations, not always happy as she doesn’t like getting on the bus at 7am, but overall it is these moments I didn’t have with my other kids and sometimes real conversations come out as it is just genuine and in the moment. I will miss them in a couple of years when she is older and will not want me to walk her to the bus stop anymore. So I will continue to try and cherish these days even when she is angry for me making her goto school. π₯°
After some really cold days I think I overdressed for this run. This route had no preplanning and I just went where it made sense today and today it made sense to be on this railroad for a short stent. π€οΈ
Gave my first go at making Wassail Tea tonight and I think it turned out as I remembered. Big thanks to @jthingelstad for having me try it and having his recipe available to give it a try.
Boiling it up
Sipping my finished product while writing this.
Donβt be fooled, that boardwalk was a little slick so I took my time navigating them. Other than that the run wasnβt bad once I got moving, tried to follow a trail but it didnβt go anywhere. Make me wonder if it is about the right time to cut thought a Prairie in another park that has no trails. π
I have enjoyed using the Apple Notes app more but unless I am doing something wrong I wish you could manipulate, really just move around, drawings/notes you handwrite on your iPad in the MacOS app. I am hoping I am just doing something wrong π€·ββοΈ
This was a cold run until about the last 2 miles when I was warm enough to consider taking this photo. After being down and out for the past couple of days this was needed and felt good to get moving.
Yes that is a thin sheet of ice on the water.
π³ I realized a little while ago that I hadn’t had coffee for more than 2 days…. That is when you know for sure you have not been feeling well.
This weather is just sillyβ¦ Feels like negative degrees today but tomorrow a high of 40Β°F. Letβs just say the office is cold today as I hadnβt fully got the automation set back up again for the cold weather.
